Thanks to the several people who called in for yesterday's Q&A session on the Lawyer's LifePosts Integration Series. I thought I'd share a couple of the questions asked here. I've boiled these questions down to the meat here, though I appreciate the tact that yesterday's callers used in asking them.
One key one is, Will participants receive CLE credit? No. I am looking into submitting certain portions of the series for CLE credit and offering those portions as free-standing seminars, but credit is not available for the conference as a whole. There are two reasons for that. The first is that some of these sections are simply not legally-related enough to qualify. Although optimal health will enhance any lawyer's legal career, you don't have gym in law school. 'Nuff said. The second reason is that this is a pilot series and I want to make it available at a reasonable cost. All told, the series accounts for 18 hours of instruction and discussion, and the maximum total cost is $750, spread over 6 months. Because of the cost of offering CLE credit, I would have to raise the price substantially and I didn't want to do that on this round.
Why should I attend if I don't get CLE credit? Because this series is designed to improve every aspect of your life and participation will benefit not only your professional life, but your personal life as well.
Who will be participating in the groups? Is confidentiality an issue? We'll be discussing a variety of topics, some of which are more personal than others. Participants will be invited to share as much or as little as they like. I will request that members observe confidentiality according the the 12 Step Tradition: "What you 'see' here, what you hear here, when you leave here, let it stay here."
What if I miss a session? Sessions will be recorded and the recordings will be made available to participants only.
What changes can I expect to see by the end of the 6 months? Assuming you do the work, you will see an upgraded life. You will reduce the number of things that don't work in your life, and you'll experience a corresponding increase in energy. (Have you ever moved and failed to unpack all your boxes? Have you lived with those boxes, still packed, in the corner of your home for a few weeks or months? Did you experience relief when you unpacked them or threw them out? That's what I'm talking about.)
Why should I listen to you? Do you regularly do everything on the Lawyer's LifePosts list? Everything? No. Some of the statements aren't things I choose to do — although I do believe I'd function better if I drank more water and less diet Coke, it isn't something I'm willing to give up. And others, I still work on and have succeeded at various levels. Wouldn't it be a little scary if I were perfect? (No worries there, fortunately.)
If you have other questions, you have 3 options to have them answered: call me, email me, or join the next Q&A session on June 1. I look forward to it!
Welcome back!
