          Work/life balance

Work/life balance is a phrase at the tip of every lawyer's tongue these days. We all talk about it, we read about it, we hear speeches about it, and we all assure young recruits that we experience it. But what is work/life balance? And more importantly, how is it achieved?

When you articulate your values and clarify your goals, work/life balance will follow, and it will hold different character and context for each individual. Exploration of what balance means is an exciting process. Developing a strategy to achieve that balance will require careful account of resources and support; enhanced prioritization, organizational, time management, and practice skills; and determination to find a solution for the challenges that will occur.

Work/life balance is critical to day-to-day well-being. It is the bedrock of a sustainable and satisfying professional and personal life. Most importantly, it is the living expression of your values and the vision you hold for your life.

"Balance your business and your personal life. It's crucial to your well-being."
-Phillip Laskawy, Former Chairman of Ernst & Young
