Experienced Practitioners

After you've been in practice for few years, you will likely have a good idea of what you'd like from your career.  Whether you want to stay with your current firm and make partner there (or stay on in a Counsel role), to lateral to another firm, to start your own practice, or to move in-house, or into government, you'll need to lay your strategy carefully.  Even more important is implementing your strategy.  Working with a coach will help you both to set and refine your strategy and also to keep you focused on the goals you've set.

In addition, you may need to work on specific proficiencies, such as:

  • time management and organizational skills (including discovering how to spend time on your work and your personal life so you avoid burnout)

  • networking skills (for business development and to meet the people you'll need to know as your career progresses)

  • communications skills

  • delegation skills

  • business development skills

  • presentation skills

By focusing on these competencies on a regular basis, and by ensuring that you're taking the personalized developmental steps that will be most beneficial, you'll see rapid improvement and mastery.
